On Saturday, Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson won the bronze medal in the women’s 60-metre dash at the IAAF World Indoors Championships at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, USA.

Thompson, the 2015 World Championships 200-metre silver medallist, finished third with a time of  7.06 seconds, just below her personal-best of 7.04 she achieved in winning her semi-final heat earlier.

United States delegate, Barbara Pierre,  took the gold medal with a time of 7.02 seconds, just ahead of Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands.

The bronze was the second medal for Jamaica at the championship as the man Asafa Powell won silver medal in the men’s 60-metre dash on Friday night.
