Nevisian Athlete Adrian Williams Pursues Physical Therapy Studies in Texas


Celebrated junior athlete, Adrian Williams, has left the federation to further his education at the South Plains College in Texas.

Mr. Williams, who is a resident of Nevis, indicated that he would be pursuing studies in Physical Therapy while in Texas. He also mentioned his plans to excel in athletics as well and break the javelin record at his new school.

President of the Nevis Amateur Athletic Association, Lester Blackett as well as the Public Relations Officer of the St. Kitts-Nevis Amateur, Evris Huggins were both present at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport to wish Williams well.

Mr. Blackett spoke of how Williams was able to secure the full scholarship by working diligently and partnering with sports enthusiasts while studying in Trinidad.

Mr. Williams has been a great sports ambassador for St. Kitts-Nevis throughout the years. In 2010 he  won the Carifta Games javelin event with a distance of 57.86m in the Cayman islands, winning the first Carifta gold for St. Kitts – Nevis in seven years. He set the under-17 TDC Interschool Championship record of 56.48m at a meet held in St. Kitts.

In 2011, he made history by establishing a new javelin record a the Carifta games,- a feat never before accomplished by an athlete of St. Kitts-Nevis. He also established another first for St. Kitts-Nevis at the 40th staging of the meet, winning back to back gold medals (in 2010 & 2011) in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
